Yeah L-E. Someone was talking about getting DVDs. When Tofu was around, I had asked him about it 'Let's do KOR!'. He said 'we will someday' when a definitely long period has passed since the license being declared dropped.

I've actually been pretty lucky (in my opinion) in that a number of my favorite unlicensed series have been picked up recently (like Rozen Maiden, which was my favorite unlicensed show until it got licensed). So it was actually very hard to find some shows that I thought were great that are still unlicensed (not saying the other stuff listed in here isn't great- I just haven't seen any of it).
So, I think my favorite unlicensed anime would be the Kino's Travels (Kino no Tabi) movie, Life Goes On. I dearly love the TV series, and the movie is excellent as well. Also, I really enjoyed some more recent TV series, like NHK ni Youkoso and Bokura ga Ita.

Yup, they did. And it was actually their version that I got. It was a joint with a few other groups- or at least the movie was. I don't know if LE did the TV series, because I bought that on DVD so I never saw fansubs of it.

I never caught the Kino fansubs(other than episode 0 and Life Goes On). Friend of mine picked up the dvds at a con after seeing a screening. Lent them to me, then had a death match with me to get them back.
As for unlicensed shows, I love HunterXHunter. Everyday I wish Togashi would quit feigning sick so he can stay home and cosplay with his wife and write some more manga. Monster, Host Club, Kaikan Phrase, and Yakitate Japan are also big favorites.
